Journey to Salvation..... Mountain! To give a bit of history about Salvation Mountain it was created by a man named Leonard Knight as a mural to represent his relationship with God and loosely based on the Sinner's Prayer. It's been in numerous music videos and movies including the most memorable to me, Into the Wild. The Mountain is made of adobe, straw and lead-free paint. You can walk on the mountain itself to get a better look at the detail of the art but make sure to stay on The Yellow Brick Road! (or a crazy man on a megaphone will yell at you and you'll be really embarrassed)
I had been to Salvation Mountain before with some close girlfriends on a whim! We drove in a Jeep with the top down and arrived with just enough time to explore and watch the most gorgeous purple sunset! It felt like a Mary-Kate and Ashley movie! However my second trip was spent getting yelled at by the "would-be security guard" and watching him yell over a megaphone that he would shoot down "whoever's drone that is" with his shotgun, Morgan and I didn't have quite the quintessential experience that I had before. To be honest it was defiantly disappointing that as he guarded such a sacred place that boldly proclaims on the forefront "God is Love" didn't himself act like that. So just a fair warning, beware the crazy people who guard over Salvation Mountain!
All in all Morgan and I saw, we shot, we conquered. We got some amazing shots and I particularly love my hair in these! I'm wearing a bikini from Malai Swimwear, they make amazing, well crafted bikinis in Columbia! I shot another bikini with them last summer and was excited to collaborate again. Their bikinis are very sturdy, a funny thing to say but I truly feel like their stitches and fabric will help the bikini last longer. This cute little suit has pineapples on it and there's another to come with parrots.
This braid is probably one of my favorites I've done in a while! Braids and Bikinis has taken more of a turn towards the fashion side and I had decided I needed to refocus and whip out some awesome braids! This braid starts french style but then I only added hair to a couple sections and then left some out. No real way to explain this other than your gut feeling (especially because I couldn't see the back of my head doing this in a car). Then I did a hair tie at the nap of my neck and a fishtail braid on the ends of the ponytail! Hopefully I'll be doing a tutorial video of this braid because I quite impressed myself!
